Rocket-Glare and Ice-Blink
Feb. 24th, 2011 09:35 amKiller-Kate and Luke Lackland: 540 words. Bonecold Refugee's answer, and the thing she cannot answer. Midnight deeds awake in Garcastle.
A flight scene to do later, once I've stewed over it; then into Langdale, and Kate's Moment. Lots more stew coming up there. The rhythm as well as the content of this needs to be just right: that was quite a high peak I just put there, which I'd planned to slip by quietly and understated. But the eventual mechanism wrecked any chance of discretion. Trust Flashy Elder Brother to handle it that way!
It does mean that I, as well as the reader and my protagonist, get a better glimpse of what Refugee is all about besides bonecoldness and vision. That's worth a deal of extra work, right there. My disenchantress is not the easiest character to engage with.
