I think anyone who examines what they are doing and how they can do better is doing something laudable - I am currently far too inward-focussed to do much work in that direction. So it ill behooves me to challenge anyone.
I also feel that there's more than one side - they're all facets of the same gem, but any time you reduce something to black-or-white, you open the door to rhethoric, and while argumentation can be a fine thing, it might not serve the cause of finding your own balance point best. (The older I get, the most facets I see in anything; everybody's circumstances and needs are different, and these needs and circumstances can change. Once you attach moral values to them other than at the far ends, you make it harder for people *to* find a sensible balance.)
And I am storing your musings away for introspection later; while I might come to radically different conclusions, at least in parts, I welcome the opportunity to engage with this.
