I finished the Wassail arc of Killer-Kate with another 190 words yesterday.  Now to go through all I've written with furious pen, and see how far it's really about what I think it is.  My original vision of the story made too little of my protagonists' great allies and unhoped-for haven at Fairfields: this first stab at writing them, I now suspect, makes too much of Fairfields, and too little of the disruptive influence of my protags' bone-deep, old-school heroism.

Also, I need to go right back to the peasants' revolt which is just about to explode, and acquaint myself thoroughly with the parts of it to which none of my characters have any direct connection.  These are about to become important background, and must be seen as doubly so in a story which involves two great and greatly vainglorious spirits having finally grasped through all their years and tears that it is Not All About Them.

A first-footing, a new year, a new season of the tale.
