The Flicking Finger

The action side of this story arc in Killer-Kate and Luke Lackland had previously been a bit weaker than I was happy with. It isn't any more.
When your mortal enemy, hastening past on some mysterious errand, knocks you sprawling with (so to speak) a flick of her little finger, do you feel:
1) That was her little finger? I am so lucky she didn't take the time to punch me - I'd be dead!
2) That was her little finger? I am so dead when my luck runs out, and she takes the time to punch me!
3) When I find out what that errand was, I think I'm going to wish she'd taken the time to punch me.
I now have representatives of each philosophy amongst my main characters. No prizes for guessing which is most nearly right.
1,160 words from a different viewpoint. Fences, and buckets, and a diversion that doesn't divert.
Chapter's end in sight, and on schedule.

I'm about half-way through at present, but I work in a school and I have the long summer holidays coming up in just over a month. My current optimistic target is to have it finished by September - in which case it'll probably need about a month of rough-polishing before it's ready for polite company. Then a month-ish of beta, a month of post-beta fallow, and so to finality and submission in a most appropriate midwinter.
